Meet Isabelle MAURETTE, Sales Manager of the Nice office at DPO Consulting Sud-Est.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us why you joined DPO Consulting Sud-Est?

Isabelle Maurette: After studying law in Nice, Bordeaux and Aix, followed by twenty years spent at a Big Four company and several large international corporations in HR expertise and projects, my last experience allowed me to discover the world of personal data protection and to work for more than two years in this area during the implementation of a Group HRIS. I wanted to learn more about this subject so I took evening classes at the CNAM and then passed my Data Protection Officer
certification.

While I was wondering whether to leave the HR world and go into data protection, DPO Consulting Sud-Est wanted to set themselves up in the Côte d’Azur. It was the perfect combination that allowed me to join a team of experts, both dynamic and professional, and to stay in my region to develop the business, meet demand and support local organizations.

What is your vision of the maturity of companies regarding personal data protection?

Isabelle Maurette: Companies are aware that personal data protection is one of the areas in which their customers, service providers, partners and employees will be attentive. Today, the term GDPR is known and used by all, even if we do not always know what it covers exactly and often, data protection is wrongly assimilated only to the IT field.

Companies want to comply with the regulation but often find it difficult to do so due to lack of time, knowledge or means. They are caught up in the development of their business and the satisfaction of their customers and neglect these measures that they consider to be “administrative” or at the bottom of their “checklist”.

We have a dual role: on the one hand, to popularize this new subject in order to make companies aware of the legal, economic and reputational stakes; on the other hand, to establish a real partnership to guide and accompany them in their compliance procedures.

How do you see the last quarter of 2022 and the year 2023, and what are your ambitions for the Nice office?

Isabelle Maurette: The last quarter of 2022 should see the local team grow with the recruitment of a consultant. We are also going to set up our offices in Nice, in the Arenas neighborhood, facing out toward the sea!

We are fortunate in the Alpes-Maritimes and Var regions that we have many areas of activity (Industries, IT, Perfumery, Hospitality, Health, etc.) and that we can to meet the requirements of each thanks to the skills and knowledge acquired more widely within the group.

All these companies and local organizations are actors who, if they have taken certain steps, want to check a few years later that they are still complying properly. We can then respond to their needs by becoming their GDPR partner, in particular through the outsourcing of the DPO role.

In order to be as close as possible to our clients, we hope to have a presence in the Var region and on Corsica soon, and we will contribute to local inter and intra-company events, and organize webinars to raise awareness among private and public organizations on the Côte d’Azur and Corsica.
