In a decision handed down on February 10, the CNIL gave formal notice to a French website manager to stop using Google Analytics. Having received complaints from the NOYB association, the CNIL, in cooperation with its European counterparts, analyzed the conditions under which the data collected thanks to this tool are transferred to the United States and considered this transfer to be non-compliant.
This decision had a seismic effect with regard to the quasi-monopolistic position of Google Analytics in audience measurement in France.
7 months later, where do we stand?
